A relative of Steve’s (ex stepfather) sent me the obituary a day after he died. No comment with it; she just wanted me to know. I greatly appreciated it and also felt bad that perhaps she knew my story and maybe no one else in her family did, and that was quite a burden for her.
Writing a little more poetry
The last time my stepfather touched me was in 1984. I was 14. My biological mother had left to be with her lover. Left me to tell Steve she was gone. Left me alone with him. Two weeks. I was alone with him. He made me sleep in his bed.
